The Broadfield Slopes Project

From March 2025, we'll be working to improve the Grade II listed area surrounding Rochdale Town Hall known as the Broadfield Slopes. The project is being funded by Rochdale Borough Council and The National Lottery Heritage Fund and is expected to be completed by 2026.

We aim to create a vibrant, accessible, and culturally rich environment for everyone to enjoy.

Our plans

We plan to:

  • Reinstate the pond and restore the Packer Spout fountain: bringing historical water features back to life.
  • Create 2 new public lawns: adding more green spaces to make it a place where you'd love to hang out.
  • Make an accessible path to Packer Spout Fountain: making this piece of our history accessible for the first time.
  • Add terraced seating: creating an area for spectacular outdoor events.
  • Install new lighting and CCTV: making the area safer and easier to use.
  • Highlight exposed archaeology: making a feature of the area's history.
  • Add new landscaping: creating a healthier environment and a home for more plants and animals
  • Create new educational trails: offering interesting learning experiences for visitors.
